Triumph TR7 Convertible

Cars

The Triumph TR7 is a sports car produced by British Leyland, sitting at the entry level of the TR range. It was launched as a fixed head coupe with the convertible version following some years later, styled with a distinctive wedge shape unusual for the marque. Power came from a four cylinder engine driving the rear wheels, offering simple open top motoring rather than outright performance.

Check for rust in the sills, floor pans, wheel arches and around the windscreen surround, as corrosion is the main enemy of these cars. Also check the condition of the convertible hood, the cooling system for overheating issues, and whether the overdrive gearbox is fitted and working.

About Triumph

Triumph is a British name carried by two separate makers. Triumph cars were built in Coventry and are known for sports cars such as the TR series and the Spitfire, with production ending in 1984. Triumph motorcycles have been made in Hinckley, Leicestershire, since the brand was revived in the early 1990s, continuing a line of British motorcycles that goes back more than a century.
